My dad (James Robert Thrall) served on a bomber in either the 492nd or 857th bomb crew on a bomber named "Herks Jerks". I have a photo of crew minus my dad, who I assume to took the photo. Would love to find a photo that includes my dad or any information on his fellow crew members.

I have been in touch with Harry Davis of Dallas just this evening, with regard to auditioning for narrator of this documentary. I'll e-mail Harry, informing him that I have checked out this website, and we'll go from there. All I can say is, this is a daunting challenge for the people involved in the project, and that is putting it mildly. I would be honored and thrilled to participate if it works out that way. We'll see what happens. Meantime, my very best wishes to all involved in contacting missing people and carrying on with this highly worthwhile project. -- Dave Adams, Carrollton, TX.

Through a series of events via the web i've been able to connect my Dad(92) with one of his crew mates from the 466th BG crew #555. My Dad, Lt. J. Wm. Smith was a navigator with B-24 crew #555. He kept in touch with Wes Vawter, the co-pilot over the years but has had no contact with any of the other crewmen. Low and behold the son of Corodon Norton, a gunner on the ship, was located and has visited with his long lost pals. There is still the possibility that others are still with us. Crew member from #555 (planes flown; DIXIE!, DAMIFINO, TIMES A WASTIN) R.E. Weckerly (Weck) - Tail Gunner, James R. Attenholt (Att)- Ball turret/waist gunner, Elijah J. Porter (Porter)- Radio Operator, Allen D. Miller (Al)- Engineer/gunner, William E. Gilbert (Bill)- Nose Gunner, Tom Hallet-Bombadier. Pilot Paul Bridgeman was lost in an accident a few years after the war. Wesley Rhodes Vawter-Co pilot, Corodon Norton-Gunner, and J. William (Bill) Smith are alive and well and accounted for. Any leads for the remaining crewmen would be great. Doug Smith - Montana

Through a series of events via the web I have been able to connect my Father (92) , a 466th BG. Navigator w/ crew #555 with one of his former crew mates. My Dad, Lt. J.W. Smith flew 35 combat missions over Germany. He kept in touch with the co-pilot, Wesley Vawter but all other crewmen have been scattered over the years. Low and Behold the Son of another crewman, Corodon Norton (82) contacted me to let me know his Dad is alive and well in Florida. I have been in contact with Mr. Norton and he will be talking with his two former crewmates soon. Dad and Wes Vawter had figured they were the last two surviving crewmen. Quite exciting to reunite these veterans. Doug Smith

I'm a returning HL member who has been out-of-pocket for a long time. My dad, Frank T. Bostwick of the 466th, and mother are in Savannah at this moment enjoying the Mighty 8th reunion and I miss the involvement. I'm happy to note that your reunion is in Oct. this year in Dallas at the 2nd ADA meeting. I'll renew my membership and hope to be in attendance then. BTW, my mailing address is 1115 10th St., 77445-5241.

Who was the 2nd Bomb Division C.O. on the Kassel Mission, September 27, 1944? Secondly, in the 389th BG, Jeff Steiner was flying PFF in the deputy lead position that day. Is he still alive? Is there any record of his recollections of that day? We have him commenting to someone in the 453rd about something he saw happen.

For Thomas Campana: T have been unable so far to get in touch with Steven Tracy. I was asked not to release any of the portion of the diary without the family's permission, so until I can get in touch with him or he contacts me, I'm sorry but I can't send you a copy of what he sent me (which was only a small segment from the diary).

Thomas, If you have not yet heard anything from Mike S., could you repost and/or confirm your e-mail address via new entry in the guestbook? (Don't post it, just fill the form out one more time with a short mesage for the body.) I tried to reply to your entry, but the delivery failed. Thanks. Reed Hammans

For Thomas Campana - I'm not 100% certain, but I believe Major Augustus C. Tracy is deceased. I have part of a journal that he wrote in 1944 that was sent to me by Steven Tracy. I'm trying to contact him to find out Maj. Tracy's status.
